Crackle & Pop: Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)

Remember this “gem”?  Little Carter is giving us a “little bit of old school”.  What does a 12-year-old know about Old School?  judging by this song, not a damn thing.

Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)

Look, if you are not in that prized pre-teen demo, this song is 100% as bad as you think it is.  It’s a painful tour of the most manufactured synth pop, full of suburban slang, privileged house party nonsense, and hip hop terms from the 80s.

It’s hard to pretend that the pint-sized rapper phase was okay.  Lil Bow Wow and others running around like they know a damn thing about the streets and hustling is bad enough.  Listening to Aaron Carter do it is sad.  Lil Carter here is the youngest brother of Nick Carter, of Backstreet Boys fame:  say what you want, at least he had talent.  The only talent Aaron has is for benefiting from neopotism.  The only value from this song is that feeling you get, looking back on it years after its preposterous release and mocking it, and your preteen stages with glee and malice.
